Hey everyone! We have some exciting news to share with you all – our studio just got an amazing update! Let me tell you all about our new vibe!
We took into consideration what our clients have been asking for and decided to go for a more minimalist modern design. But don’t worry, we still made sure to add our own personal touch.
For the Asteria room, we chose a plain white flooring.
Before, we had some pretty ugly vinyl sheet flooring that our landlord didn’t want us to remove.
So, we had to get creative. Instead of removing or painting over the vinyl, we purchased more vinyl sheet flooring from Home Depot for just $.66 per sq. ft.

It cost us $110 for a 12ft wide by 14.5 long piece.
Then, we simply laid it down and taped the corners with rug tape underneath.

After that, we painted it with interior white paint (although we recommend using a heavier duty paint). It took 6 coats, but we finally got it fully covered. And voila – a beautiful white floor!
.
For the ethereal room, I really wanted to give it a Mediterranean vibe, so I decided to go with a faux textured concrete flooring.
At first, I was considering using vinyl roll, but I ended up using a hardboard sheets instead. I wanted a stronger surface to work with since I was planning on adding plaster on top.

To make sure the hardboards fit together seamlessly, I used joint compound tape and then started applying joint compound all over.
It’s important to apply the compound in different directions to get that textured look. After letting it dry for 24-48 hours, I assessed if it needed another coat. In the end, I only needed one coat and then painted over it with white paint.

I love taking on DIY projects, and this one was not only fun, but also budget-friendly. I’m really happy with how the flooring turned out!
The new vibe is definitely fitting for our clients that love less is more but still aesthetically pleasing!
Stayed tuned for our next blog where we talk about the walls!
