One quick glance at a local Facebook page, and you’ll find a multitude of recommendations for a Bay Area Newborn Photographer. I hope this helps you make the best choice for your little one.
Imagine your newborn baby girl, sweetly nestled in her parent’s loving arms.
Here’s what to look out for when choosing an SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer
Safety is definitely at the top of my list when it comes to my photography business, especially as a newborn photographer in the Bay Area. Newborn photography is a unique and delicate field. Newborn photography requires a lot of practice and knowledge to safely capture those cute poses that you all adore. So, please, those baby photos you see on Pinterest? Don’t try them at home! Professional photographers are been trained and have learned from medical professionals to make sure the baby’s safety is never compromised. We know how to hold the baby properly and what to look out for to ensure the baby is always comfortable. We use weights in buckets to prevent the baby from tipping over and pillows to support the baby’s delicate joints.
It may surprise you to know that a number of photographers are not operating their businesses in accordance with the law. A simple search on the state’s website can help you verify if the photographer you’re considering is properly registered. You can check the states site California Business Search. I believe every photographer who charges for a session, regardless of the price, is required by law to file taxes, but unfortunately, not all do. If they’re not fully complying with tax regulations, it’s possible they may also not be investing in further education for newborn safety or in honing their skills.
3. Insured SF Bay Area Newborn Photographer
It’s all quite straightforward, honestly. Do photographers care enough about you to have insurance? Your precious little one is simply too precious to risk! I hold my work in high regard, just like all Bay Area newborn photographers should. The mere thought of anything unpleasant occurring while I’m on duty is quite daunting. Rest assured, I’ll do everything in my power to safeguard both my clients and my business.
Newborn babies are such delicate little beings, aren’t they? Just wondering if your Bay Area newborn photographer is going above and beyond to ensure that your little one doesn’t come in contact with any unwanted germs? Rest assured that I’m fully vaccinated. We truly believe in our responsibility to do all we can to help keep your precious baby healthy and safe!
Wondering how the photographer will ensure you’re comfortable during your little one’s session? We understand that caring for a newborn can be both exhausting and nerve-wracking. The last thing you should be worrying about is whether you’ll feel at ease during a photo session. Well, don’t worry! I offer comfortable seating both in the studio and in the lobby just in case you need to take a breather from the warm studio. And, it’s totally fine whether you prefer to stay put or move around. Most importantly, I want you to know that your precious baby is in good hands. That way, you can simply enjoy some well-deserved rest!
Does the photographer supply outfits and props so you can have one less thing to worry about? Will your baby’s photos be personalized for your family? I’m here to ensure your newborn session is completely stress-free. While your suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated, I’m also happy to design a unique session that you’re sure to adore. Each session is planned based on a questionnaire I provide, or I can start from scratch and create beautiful sets. I do have a certain way of arranging poses, but ultimately, you’re in charge and I always put the parents’ wishes first and ensure your preferences are integrated into my posing timeline for the session.
Do you think the photographer has experience with babies, not just with the camera? Personally, I’ve been surrounded by babies all my life. I am the eldest of six children and took being a big sister very seriously! Before starting my photography journey I was a pediatric medical assistant for 5 years. I also have three wonderful children of my own. I’ve also done numerous newborn photo sessions. There’s a certain level of comfort that comes with newborn photography. If someone is uneasy around babies, this probably isn’t the right job for them.
Having been around so many babies, I often find myself able to understand what the baby needs. I’ve been proudly called ‘baby whisperers’ or even been asked if we provide babysitting services. I remember one instance when my friend’s baby became a bit fussy while I was holding her. I simply changed her position and her mom exclaimed, “Wow, we never thought of holding her that way, but she seems to like it!”
Of course, this isn’t a complete list of things to consider. You still need to check out aspects like style, packages, products, and pricing, but in terms of service, the 7 points I’ve listed above are definitely things you should seriously think about!
